Soften Lines
How It Works

A brief muscle pause.
Softer lines.

Botox is an FDA-approved neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the small facial muscles that pull your skin into wrinkles when you frown, squint, or raise your brows. When those muscles rest, the lines above them soften — and with consistent treatment, deeper static lines often fade because the skin finally gets a break from repetitive folding.

It's not filler. Botox doesn't add volume — it quiets the muscle, not the skin underneath. That's why it works best on dynamic wrinkles (the ones that appear with movement) and pairs beautifully with filler, microneedling, or skincare for texture and tone.

Helen Petrov, BSN, RN administers every Botox treatment personally, under the medical direction of our medical director and following Washington State protocols for RN-delegated aesthetic injections.

Is This Right For You?

Botox works best if:

  • 01You're in your mid-20s to mid-60s and want to soften expression lines — forehead, the '11s' between your brows, crow's feet, bunny lines, a gummy smile, or a tight jaw.
  • 02You want prevention. Starting in your late 20s or early 30s with low-dose "baby Botox" can slow the formation of deeper creases before they set in.
  • 03You have dynamic wrinkles (lines that appear when you move) more than static ones (lines at rest).
  • 04You want a natural, refreshed look — not a frozen one. Helen's approach is conservative by design.

Botox won't fix everything.

It doesn't address skin texture, sun damage, volume loss in the cheeks or under the eyes, or skin laxity. If any of those are your main concern, we'll talk about microneedling, PRP, or filler at your appointment.

What To Expect

Most visits take 15–30 minutes.

Step 01

Goals & history

We'll review what's bothering you, your medical history, and current medications. If it's your first time, Helen maps out which muscles to treat and recommends a unit count.

Step 02

Optional numbing

If you're sensitive or nervous, we apply a topical numbing cream or ice. Most patients skip it — the needles are ultra-fine 32-gauge.

Step 03

Injections

Five to ten minutes. Most people describe each injection as a quick pinch or mosquito bite, nothing more.

Step 04

Walk out

You'll leave with small pink bumps at each site that fade within 15–30 minutes. Go straight back to work, errands, or the rest of your day.

You won't see results right away — that's normal. Botox takes a few days to start working and two full weeks to fully settle.

Aftercare

Simple rules,
better results.

First 4 hours

  • Stay upright — don't lie flat or bend forward.
  • Don't rub, massage, or apply pressure to treated areas.
  • Skip heavy makeup over the injection points.

First 24 hours

  • No workouts, hot yoga, saunas, or steam rooms — heat and elevated heart rate can shift the product.
  • No alcohol — it thins your blood and raises bruising risk.
  • No facials, massages, or microdermabrasion.

First week

  • Hold off on retinol, AHAs, and BHAs around the injection sites for 48 hours.
  • Keep daily sun protection on — SPF 30 or higher.
  • Don't book another injectable until you've seen full results at your 2-week follow-up.

If anything looks uneven or feels off between days 7 and 14, text Helen at (206) 739-7309. Most touch-ups are tiny, and every new patient receives a complimentary 2-week follow-up.

Results Timeline

What happens when.

  1. Day 1–3

    Early relaxation

Some patients feel it "settling in" as early as 24 hours. Others don't notice anything yet. Both are normal.

  2. Day 5–7

    Visible softening

Most of the effect is visible. Lines start to soften and the treated muscles feel calmer.

  3. Day 14

    Full results

This is when we book your complimentary follow-up to make sure everything is even.

  4. Month 3–4

    Movement returns

Most patients start to see normal movement come back — the standard time to book your next appointment.

  5. Month 4–5

    Regulars stretch further

First-time patients often see 2–3 months. Regulars typically see 3–5 months as treated muscles stay calmer over time.

Results depend on your metabolism, muscle mass, how often you work out, and the area treated. Smaller muscles (crow's feet, lip flip) relax sooner. Larger ones (forehead, masseter for jaw slimming) tend to hold longer.

When Botox isn't enough

Botox is one tool.
Here's the rest.

Botox quiets muscle movement, but it doesn't add volume, rebuild collagen, or brighten your skin. If your concerns go beyond dynamic lines, here's the rest of Helen's menu and what each one actually does:

Treatment
Best for
Timeline
Notes
Botox
Dynamic wrinkles — forehead, 11s, crow's feet, lip flip, jaw slimming
3–5 months
Relaxes muscle movement, doesn't add volume
Lip & dermal filler
Volume loss, lip shape, chin projection, cheek contour
6–18 months
Adds structure; works on static lines Botox can't reach
Microneedling
Skin texture, acne scars, pore size, tone
Gradual — series of 3–6
Rebuilds collagen; pairs well with Botox long-term
PRP / PRF
Skin quality, under-eye, hair restoration
Compounds over a series
Your own growth factors; often added to microneedling

Not sure which combination fits you? You don't need to decide before booking — Helen will walk through your concerns at your appointment and recommend a plan, even if that plan is just Botox for now.
